My first visit to New Orleans and it’s all thanks to Gina and James. Gina found me through mutual friends after getting a few photographer recs who may travel for weddings. Gina and James love to travel and both knew they wanted to have a smaller wedding in one of their favorite places with close friends and family. New Orleans was the chosen destination!
The day started at Gina’s sister’s Airbnb in the Lower Garden District. From there we made our way to the Columns Hotel on St. Charles Ave. to set up the first look. A few minutes before we arrived at the hotel it began to rain. We shifted and chose to take portraits on the balcony above overlooking the front entrance. We wandered into different rooms to take more photos before hopping on the historic trolley. The rain settled down right before their ceremony started at the 300 year old Tree of Life in Audubon Park. Proceeding the ceremony, guests were bussed back to the hotel and surprised with a Second Line. This was also my first Second Line experience (duh) and I couldn’t believe how much fun it was! The energy, the music and the pure happiness - I was blown away.
Their reception was held inside the Columns, a Michelin Key hotel. The celebration continued with an oyster boat, cocktails, an exceptional southern buffet, speeches, desserts and dancing. Gina and James made the right choice by keeping their wedding celebration intimate. I can also confidently say - they know how to throw a party!
